About
Kacie Lucchini Butcher is a public historian who is passionate about the ways history can inform the present for social change.
She has experience actively engaging marginalized communities through historical partnerships, creating and sustaining community-centered archives, and using project management skills to create impactful, social justice focused historical research.
Her work is dedicated to building empathy, advancing social justice and equity, and helping marginalized communities reclaim their historical narratives.
She is currently the Director of the Public History Project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The project aims to document the histories of exclusion and discrimination at the university through the voices of those who experienced it. By uncovering these histories and reckoning with them, UW-Madison can work towards creating a more equitable campus community.
